Sometimes we get consumes by the world, stress, and obviously the planning of a wedding. Couple's who are engaged sometimes have a difficulty finding the right wedding photographer for their special day .   Years, months, days will pass, but the wonderful moments created by wedding professionals around , will live forever in your memories. Good  wedding photographer's are  hard to come by. Unfortunately , there are no guidelines to this type of field. For example, Doctors,, teachers, accountants, require many years of schooling and sometimes internships before they can start to perform their regular duties . However, wedding photographer's are considered artists, so it is an open book . There are no guidelines to art, it is whatever the person feels , and he/she expresses it through their photographs.

When a couple gets engaged, first comes the venue, once that is decided, usually the photography is the next in line.  A photographer that will capture your moments , with your vision making your day a  memorable one.  A wedding photographer with an artistic sense can give what you have been dreaming of.

Here are some tips on how to determine the right wedding photographer for your big day .

First and foremost, you need to determine your style. Every photographer is different , therefore really study your vision for your wedding day. Many times you can look on google or Pinterest to get a feel for what your style is.  Really determine the style before choosing your wedding photographer. For instance, 2 styles that I come into contact often are traditional vs modern . A traditional photographer, is a photographer who has a classical style . Focuses on the formalities , and usually repeats his/herself in many situations. The photograph's and subject may change, but the inspiration is very classical . A modern wedding photographer, implements many aspects that  aren't ordinary. For example, something very popular could be the use of photographing the subject without actually looking at the camera. These types of moments are referred to as "candid " moments.  If you prefer a family oriented wedding photographer most likely , a classical photographer is what you are searching for .  However, if you prefer your wedding to look like a love store unfold's then a modern photographer is what you are looking for .

There are many ways to find a wedding photographer .  There are many websites for this purpose. You have to use specific words concerning the type of your desired wedding photography. You can search “Wedding photographer / Wedding photography” with the actual city or state of reference.

Reference the wedding photographer you have found with other wedding websites such as (wedding wire, the knot, long island bride and groom , etc). While checking the work is important, also cross reference the searches with reviews by clients. Also , place a phone call to the wedding photographer  and get to know him/her. Get a feel for your comfort level, is this someone you want on your big day. You should takes some notes about what you like related to the photos, reviews, personalities, and compared them.

It is not possible for you to visit every single wedding photographer out there, but you can pick from 3.  When visit their studio location , find out if they have ever been to your venue. Ask them to show you samples such as , albums, prints, thank you cards, also Entire wedding samples. This will help you make the right decision for your big day . Choosing the photographer for your wedding is a difficult decision. Give yourself some time  to make this decision. When you feel comfortable and sure about your decision then sign the contract with your photographer.

Planning a wedding is a is a difficult task . It can be a very stressful task if you don't have an agenda in mind .. You will have to face many challenges during this process  and being inexperience  being this is the first time , you would need someone who is well-versed and who is ready to equip you with all the skills needed to make your wedding a success. How can we educate ourselves a little better during this difficult process ? Well I have been writing and will continue to write on a weekly basis regarding wedding planning and different topics, concerns that may come up during this. Believe us it is difficult and we're here only to help you along the way .

Below we assessed the wedding planning experience and decided to asses most of the bumps that each couple go through after you say "I DO ".

 

How soon must the wedding hold? A journey of one million miles, they say, starts with a single step. And this is why it is important to asses when your wedding will be held . It is a winter wedding with the snow flakes (although it will be cold ), or will be a beautiful sunny summer wedding , or a beautiful fall wedding. Obviously he different times of the year, you may be able to get a different quote from the venue or any other vendor involved .

• What style or theme for the wedding are we choosing? You must be able to make decision on certain things in regards to the planning  the wedding. Are you planning a simple wedding? Is it a church or court wedding? Are you planning a it all in one location (ceremony, reception, preparations )? All of these characteristics will give you a better understanding of the theme and style  of your wedding.

What is your financial strength to accommodate your wedding style? If truly you want to have relief after your wedding , stress free, and also debt free, the best option is to ask each other , where should we allocate the funds to which service. Which vendor has priority , what do we need more of ? For instance : is a band  a necessity or can we choose a DJ instead . Do we need photo and video or can photo suffice ?  Ask yourself these questions. Before booking anyone make a list. From the most important to the least. Start with a budget in your hand and start to plan it out deducting from that budget This will give you a better understand and a debt free wedding experience .

• Where should your reception venue be? A number of couples on their wedding day ended up disappointing their guests and themselves because of the choice of venue. Make sure you go to at least 3 venues before choosing it. Sometimes the less expensive venue may not meet your every need.  Rushing this process will have you second guessing yourself after your deposit has be made. You must remember that the venue you choose for your wedding celebration  should not be too far from where you will be getting ready.

Which services do you need to hire?As I mentioned previously about the list and making a budget sheet, for your wedding, you would need the services of exceptional experts  o such as event planners, modern photographers, videographers, florists, dj's  . So make a list and label each vendors with a letter or a number symbol next to their name. Therefore you will book each vendor based on their rank . This will help you accomplished the important aspects of your wedding.

Not only will they be more skilled in their craft, this also makes them a valuable source of information and ensures that your wedding day will run perfect without a hitch. Normally wedding vendors with more experience will have an answer, or a wonderful learning experience . For instance , In our studio , with all of our prospects we give a checklist, and timeline , with a sample timeline. Most of the time, the bride is surprised , theres a lot of planning involved with the timeline . Especially in NYC, weddings can be difficult so we have to allow ample time so we can cover all of the necessities .

2. How much do you cost?

Price is often relative and always fluctuates " quality of quantity ", especially when you factor in experience, reputation and other specialty skills. Generally, the most talented professionals have a higher price price point because they are worth it. Perhaps, aiming a little bit above your budget may save you a few headaches.

3. Is there a deposit ? How much do they require ?  What does that include? Is it refundable ? What happens if I cancel? What happens if the event is cancelled ?

Wedding vendors usually have their own way of pricing things . Some may have price tags, price packages, and bundle options, it’s likely that you won’t be able to compare each Vendor because most vendors value themselves different. We suggest looking at their work first because looking at the price tag. Normally vendors require anywhere from 10-20% deposit. These deposits will ensure coverage and assembled teams for the day .  From my experience usually deposits are non-refumdable unless they fail to accomplish that is it they promise. This is why it is extremely important that you obtain a written contract with all of the details discussed during your initial meeting .

5. Do you use a contract?

This is very Simple no CONTRACT , Please do yourself a favor Do not book with them. The wedding professional may be a distant cousin, friend, family member, always have something written , Words can get twisted very fast depending on the conditions of your wedding day .

Are there any additional fees?

Make sure you understand exactly what is included and if there are any other fees you’ll have to pay. This should be clearly defined in your contract. Taxes and other fees may add up. So lets be clear and write everything down. However , do expect travel fees if your going out of state .

7. Do you carry liability insurance?

They should always , always , always be INSURED . This protects you the client  in case an unfortunate accident should occur . Many things do happen, I've seen people slip on a marble dance floor because someone spilled some drink on it.  Being insured also sends out a good message " They are a reputable business ".

And the "BONUS" question is : Ask “Is this your full time job?” (SO IMPORTANT)......

Someone who is wedding photography  part-time and has a daytime job cannot be dedicated as much . The  process will lack some of the attention that you may need in certain circumstances. You want their undivided attention as some decisions may be time sensitive..
